Opposition and Resistance to the Nazi Regime
Germans did resist the Nazi regime: communists printing leaflets, pastors preaching against the T4 killings, teenagers fighting Hitler Youth patrols, students posting leaflets in Munich, and finally generals with a bomb. None of it became a mass movement, because in a police state every link between opponents was one more person who could be followed, arrested or turned. Lone acts survived longest but could change nothing; groups that linked up were rolled up within weeks of detection; and the one group with the means to remove Hitler moved only when defeat was already certain.

The political left (KPD, SPD) was banned in 1933 and its underground cells were rolled up through couriers and interrogations; the Red Orchestra fell in 1942.
Churches resisted when their own ground was attacked (von Galen on T4, the Confessing Church) but the 1933 Concordat and loyalty oaths kept them from organised opposition.
Youth groups (Swing Kids, Edelweiss Pirates, White Rose) defied the regime culturally and morally, yet each was crushed within weeks of detection.
The July 1944 Plot came from officers who acted only once defeat loomed; its failure brought thousands of arrests and executions.
