Optimal Health as a Resource
Optimal health and wellbeing is more than a good feeling: it is a resource, something a person, a nation or the whole world can draw on to get other things done. A healthy person has the energy to work, earn and show up for the people they care about. A healthy population works more, pays more tax and costs its health system less, and a healthier world sees fewer diseases cross borders and more trade and stability between countries.

Health works like a group assignment.
Five people sit apart, each holding one dimension of the whole project.
As each does their part, the layers stack — physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual.
Every layer added, the project stands whole; skip one and it wobbles.
what examiners catch — Students describe individual benefits such as energy and quality of life and stop there, or write the same answer with the word Australia in front. The mark comes from naming a benefit that belongs to the scale asked: lower health system costs or more tax revenue nationally, fewer diseases crossing borders or more trade globally, with the chain of reasoning spelled out.
what you leave with
five things, not forty.
Optimal health and wellbeing is a resource because a person, a nation and the world can each draw on it to achieve other goals.
For the individual, good health means energy and days able to work and earn, time and patience for family and friends, and lower stress.
For the nation, a healthy population means more people in work, higher productivity and incomes, more tax revenue and lower health system spending.
For the world, better health means fewer diseases crossing borders, more trade and tourism between countries, and greater peace and stability.
Some benefits rise with health (participation, income, trade) and some are costs that fall (health system spending, disease spread), and a strong answer names which.
what's underneath
nothing here is a standalone fact.
knowhere maps every concept to what it rests on and what rests on it — 3 underneath this one, 1 built on top. Each one says why, in a sentence, not as an arrow on a diagram.
